Pressure treated lumber,or "PT", is by far the most popular material for deck construction. It offers a timeless real wood look at a reasonable cost. The new "brown" pressure treated lumber keeps it's colour longer and ages very nicely. Another benefit is all decks are framed with pressure treated for its strength, so when we use PT decking the colour matches perfectly with the framing and also any surrounding structures like fences, pergolas, etc. It also stays cooler than composites and isn't as slippery when its wet. All in all, it's easy to see why this is such a well liked building material.
